Created for the herring spawn volunteers of the Átl’ḵa7tsem / Howe Sound Marine Stewardship Initiative, this piece reflects the relationships between Pacific herring, orcas, eagles, and coastal life throughout Howe Sound. Inspired by time spent searching the shoreline for herring eggs, the work centres herring as a source of life that supports entire marine ecosystems. Mixed media using gouache, oil pastel, chalk pastel, and pastel pencil.
